While
Roman Riding is not unusual for rodeo acts, using two
2600 lb. Braham Bulls is unique. The acts include two
different shows, one on horseback and the other on the
back of the bulls.
The Flying Aces
The Flying Aces are two matched horses that start their
performance being rode Roman style around the arena.
During this part of their performance they are at a full
gallop then urged apart for Blake to do the "splits"
between the two horses and then brought back together.
The performance includes a "slalom" run through burning
torches and then a run through burning torches with the
torches padding between the horses and under Blake. The
final touch is a jump through a flaming circle
while the horses are being Roman Rode
Geronimo & Apache
There is always an excitement in the audience as the
large Braham bulls come out into the arena being Roman
rode as they speed around the arena. This is only a
start for the act as they show their training by
climbing up onto pedestals. The bulls then participate
in a "prairie Tableau". One bull plays dead as they
cross the prairie and then the other crawls across the
arena on it's knees to lay its head on its "dead"
companion. To demonstrate the bulls lack of fear of fire
a flaming torch is spun around their heads as they lay
on the ground and then leap through the ring of fire,
which is close to the same diameter as the bull.
The acts, have in the past, proved to be a crowd
pleaser showing off the agility and training of the
animals. |
