Mutton Bustin’ at the Twin Falls County Fair

Mutton Bustin is back for 2026 — and this year there are TWO ways for kids to participate!

Whether your child wants to ride at the Wednesday Night Junior Rodeo or under the bright lights right before the PRCA Rodeo performances, we have exciting opportunities for young cowboys and cowgirls to get involved.


Wednesday Night Junior Rodeo Mutton Bustin

FREE Community Event

The Wednesday Night Junior Rodeo continues to be a fun, community-focused event open to up to 60 participants.

Eligibility

  • Ages 4–8 (as of January 1)
  • Must weigh under 60 pounds
  • Western attire required
  • Helmets provided while riding

Important Information

  • FREE to participate
  • Registration will be online at this page starting July 15th and printed waivers are due to the Fair Office by Sept 1
  • Medals awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place (not trophies)
  • Participants must follow all posted rules and safety requirements

This event is a great introduction to rodeo and a fun way for kids to participate during Fair Week.

PRCA Rodeo “Primetime Mutton Bustin”

Want to ride in front of the PRCA Rodeo audience?

This new featured experience takes place BEFORE each night of the Magic Valley Stampede PRCA Rodeo and includes:

  • Professional rodeo announcer commentary
  • Jumbotron video coverage
  • A packed rodeo crowd atmosphere

Event Details

  • 10 riders per night
  • Thursday, Friday, and Saturday rodeo performances
  • Begins at 7:10 PM sharp before the rest of our Pre Show and Grand Entry

Registration Information

  • Registration is ONLINE ONLY
  • Opens July 15 at 12:00 PM (Noon) at this website
  • First-come, first-served
  • Spots close once each night fills

Cost

  • $25 per rider (non-refundable)
  • Does NOT include rodeo admission tickets

Important Notes

  • Riders may participate in BOTH Wednesday Night Junior Rodeo and Primetime Mutton Bustin
  • No switching nights after registration
  • No refunds for no-shows
  • Riders must check in by 6:50 PM at the NW end of the overhead stairway
  • Liability forms must be submitted to the Fair Office by September 1

General Rules

  • Participants must be ages 4–8
  • Participants must weigh under 60 pounds
  • Western attire required
  • No spurs allowed
  • Riders must use a “wool hold” only
  • One helper per contestant allowed in chute area

There will no longer be Mutton Bustin as the "halftime show" during each night of the rodeo as there has been in the past. This will be replaced with a Specialty Act Entertainment.
